Real-time management of a national gas distribution system

TRANSFORMING GAS DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS INTO SMART SYSTEMS

Biomethane is, to an increasing extent, being integrated into gas distribution networks, changing the way these networks are operated. The Gontrand project, which was selected to receive funding under the 17th call for projects of the French Single Interministerial Fund, has entered its operational phase. The project aims to develop and test the technologies needed to manage in real time a gas utility network carrying gases of different quality from multiple sources.

AN AMBITIOUS PROJECT

The Gontrand project will spur the expansion of biomethane in France.

In particular, the project will boost utility networks’ capacity to integrate and carry the different types of gases produced to consumers The project consortium will carve out positions of leadership on five complementary markets: utility calculation tools, smart infrastructure management solutions and services, multi-operator and multi-technology M2M services, gas testing systems, and utility consulting.
