An innovative, competitive balloon-based skidder

A MOTORIZED CAPTIVE DIRIGIBLE

One of the challenges faced by the forestry industry is access to resources, especially in mountain regions. Another is protecting forest ecosystems. The AéroLifter project will develop a hybrid (motorized/cable guided) captive dirigible. The motor will be used to get the dirigible to the site and set up; the cables will be used for skidding (removing cut trees) on steep terrain. The dirigible will be able to transport two-ton piles of wood.

A GLOBAL MARKET

The dirigible is expected to be released in 2019. The market is global (Europe, New Zealand, Japan, the United States), and the project could also lead to developments for the hoisting and construction industries.

The project is co-certified by Tenerrdis and Pégase under the French governments industrial renewal plan (“transportation of tomorrow/dirigibles-heavy loads”).
