Belleville-en-Beaujolais is a « municipality » created on the first of January 2019, resulting of the merging of Belleville-sur-Saône and Saint-Jean-d’Ardières. The new municipality records nearly 14 000 inhabitants and is the « chief town » of the Communauté de Commune Sâone-Beaujolais, a local intercommunality regrouping 35 municipalities and 45 000 citizens. Nested in the Beaujolais’s hills, the rural town is surrounded by beautiful vineyards, with not less than twelve different designations and ten famous vintages. Beyond its wines, Belleville-en- Beaujolais and the territory are also well known for their friendliness, unique sceneries and verdant nature. Thus, the ecological preservation of such a natural heritage is a major issue for the municipality. As a matter of fact, Belleville-en- Beaujolais has been implementing – for a few decades now – active policies to adress those challenges. Through its representatives and its policies, Belleville-en-Beaujolais is adressing the issues of mobility, climate change and social inequalities with consistency and willingness !
