Remote sites
When access to the grid is limited
PRODUCE AND CONSUME ENERGY LOCALLY
In the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region
Here in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France, remote sites are mainly located in rural or mountainous areas. These sites do share several characteristics: limited access to the grid and, therefore, the need to produce and consume energy locally and, more generally, the need to keep energy consumption to a minimum. Tenerrdis members are positioned to bring innovative solutions to this unique set of challenges.
In emerging countries
Emerging countries have the capacity to bring the members of the Tenerrdis ecosystem a broad range of business and partnership opportunities, from equipment manufacturing and project engineering to services and training contracts. These countries are facing some huge challenges in terms of access to energy. Their demographics are exploding—the population of Bamako, Mali, for example, is growing by 200,000 inhabitants per year—and this population growth is an intrinsic driver of economic growth.
Renewable energy has the capacity to ensure access to energy for all.
Tenerrdis is involved in programs in several regions—Africa, Southeast Asia, India—facing off-grid challenges. The cluster serves as a facilitator, helping the members of its ecosystem respond to the demands of these markets in a coordinated, concerted manner. Tenerrdis helps its members work together to bid on private-sector and government contracts and follow up on relevant business leads. To date, Tenerrdis and its partners (nonprofit Cité de la Solidarité internationale, the Association for the Development of Education in Africa, Bpifrance, and France’s development agency AFD) have run two workshops to identify needs and match them with relevant solutions offered by members of the ecosystem.
