EnerNet
The convergence of energy grids and the internet.
THE INTERNET OF ENERGY
The energy sector has been undergoing some profound shifts over the past several years amid new public policies to fight climate change and market deregulation. And the trend is expected to gain traction as the EnerNet—the internet of energy—takes hold. In short, the internet will revolutionize energy much the same way it did communications.
Energy and the internet are converging, and a revolution is happening now.
THE ENERNET, AN ENABLER OF DISRUPTIVE TRANSFORMATION
- The transition from centralized fossil-fuel-based energy production to distributed renewable energy
- The expansion of the traditional smart electricity grid to encompass multiple types of energy (biogas, hydrogen, and heat from biomass)
- The rise of prosumers as proactive participants in social energy networks and energy communities
- New business models that move away from simple energy metering and toward energy-related services to enhance comfort, safety, and environmental performance
TENERRDIS: DRIVING THE EMERGENCE OF THE ENERNET
France’s Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region—Tenerrdis’ home base—is known for its capacity for innovation and willingness to test groundbreaking solutions, including ones related to the EnerNet. And the Tenerrdis ecosystem brings together a broad range of EnerNet stakeholders, from industrial companies and entrepreneurs to educators, researchers, and concerned citizens.
Forum 5i 2016: Tenerrdis facilitates EnerNet panel talk
Tenerrdis took advantage of the Forum 5i 2016 to place the EnerNet in the spotlight. The annual Forum 5i, organized by the Greater Grenoble Intermunicipal Authority, has been bringing together innovation stakeholders for nearly two decades.
For the 2016 edition, Tenerrdis produced a motion design video and facilitated a panel talk on the EnerNet.
