GENVIA SAS

GENVIA, created on 1 March 2021, is a technology company that aims to produce green hydrogen from the steam electrolysis or convert it into electricity. By providing cost-effective access to efficient electrolysis and fuel cell technologies, GENVIA will help heavy industry to decarbonise its processes and meet its emissions targets. GENVIA will also enable energy providers to offer decarbonised electricity to consumers, where and when they need it.
GENVIA is the result of collaboration between the CEA (Commissariat à l’énergie atomique aux énergies et aux énergies alternatives), which developed the electrolyser manufacturing process, and the industrial expertise of Schlumberger. With regard to future prospects and applications, Vinci Construction, the international cement group Vicat and the Regional Climate Energy Agency (Arec) are also among the company’s shareholders.
GENVIA develops high-temperature, high-performance electrolyser and fuel cell systems based on a proprietary solid oxide technology (SOC) that offers improved efficiency, process reversibility and fuel versatility compared to competing approaches. GENVIA has a clear and ambitious roadmap for the development and industrialisation of its solid oxide technologies, which includes the creation by GENVIA of strategic alliances in various sectors, as well as the construction of a gigafactory scheduled to open in 2025 at its Béziers site. This plant will provide the production capacity to meet the gigawatt demand for electrolysers and fuel cells, which is expected to accelerate in 2030 and beyond.
